About the role
Scout Drilling LLC is hiring a Drilling Foreman to lead a drill crew on Scout Discoveries' exploration programs targeting gold, silver, and copper across Idaho. Scout is a vertically integrated exploration and drilling company based in Coeur d'Alene and the largest holder of unpatented claims in Idaho. As foreman, you own your rig and crew: safety first, then production and morale at the hole. You will run documented pre-shift safety meetings, use stop-work authority when needed, file accurate daily drill reports, and keep FIFO rotations on track. This is a full-time FIFO role reporting to the General Manager, with a path toward senior foreman and operations leadership as the fleet grows.
### Responsibilities
- Run and document the pre-shift safety meeting every shift; feed hazard IDs and corrective actions to the Head of Safety's compliance file
- Own crew safety on shift, including PPE, procedures, and active use of stop-work authority
- Escalate incidents and near-misses to the General Manager and Head of Safety the same shift
- Supervise the assigned drill crew end to end: safety, productivity, conduct, and compliance with drilling protocols and shift procedures
- File the daily drill report (meterage, downtime, consumables, equipment issues) to the General Manager by end of shift
- Flag equipment problems to the Maintenance Operations Manager before they cause downtime
- Confirm rig readiness at every rotation changeover and provide handoff notes to the incoming foreman
- Manage crew welfare and FIFO rotation compliance
- Submit crew hours and rotation status to HR Admin & Payroll weekly
### Requirements
- 5+ years of drilling experience with crew supervision
- Safety leadership on the rig: MSHA or equivalent training
- Core drilling experience; rig-type specifics per assignment
- Reliable reporting discipline: meterage, downtime, incidents
- Ability to work a FIFO rotation
### Nice to have
- Blue Card, Current MSHA certification/training, Valid CDL
