Scout Discoveries is a vertically integrated exploration and drilling company based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho — drilling and geoscience in-house — that takes deliberate care of its people while pursuing Tier One discoveries across the state. Scout is the largest holder of unpatented claims in Idaho, working gold, silver, and copper, and building a culture of entrepreneurship, learning, and looking out for one another.
Scout's discovery model runs on data quality, and data quality is made in the field: at the core box, on the drill pad, in the logging shack.
This is where a geology career at Scout begins. Exploration Geologists log core, collect and manage samples, and build the field craft that underpins every discovery, working alongside Senior Geologists who are there to teach it.
We hire for curiosity and rigor. If you have a geology degree, some field experience, and you want to learn this work properly, we want to talk.

Make an Impact
Field Geology
- Logs core and collects samples on assigned programs to Scout's QA/QC standard
- Maintains sampling-protocol compliance and chain of custody from the logging shack through to the lab
- Records clean, consistent geological data into the database
- Supports active drill programs in the field alongside the drilling crews
Learning the Craft
- Works under Senior Geologists, who coach field technique and standards
- Builds toward independent logging and interpretation over time
- Contributes observations to program debriefs
What You Bring
- Bachelors Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences
- 1-5 years of exploration or field geology experience
- Core logging and sampling exposure, or a strong willingness to learn it to Scout's QA/QC standard
- Careful, consistent data habits — clean records matter more than speed
- Comfortable with remote sites, physical outdoor work, and FIFO rotations
- Valid driver's license
